UnitedHealthcare Chief Financial Officer Wayne DeVeydt told the Wells Fargo Healthcare Conference on September 10, 2026, that the company expects to be competitive on Medicare Advantage pricing for the 2027 plan year, according to Healthcare Dive.
DeVeydt said the company is still adjusting product offerings in a limited number of markets but described the overall posture as solid heading into the annual enrollment period. He said the company sees room for margin improvement in 2027 if medical cost trends remain near early-2026 levels.
UnitedHealthcare's CFO told investors the company expects strong 2027 Medicare Advantage pricing. Your plan letter arrives by Sept. 30.
UnitedHealthcare has been reshaping its Medicare Advantage footprint over the past two plan years, reducing the number of counties where it participates and renegotiating hospital contracts in several large markets. Its NewYork-Presbyterian hospital network relationship has been subject to repeated short-term extensions throughout 2026, with the most recent agreement carrying through September 30, 2026.
Broker surveys reported separately on the same day suggest that industry-wide benefit reductions are broadly expected for 2027. UnitedHealthcare and Humana are among the carriers cited in those surveys as likely to make the most significant changes. DeVeydt's investor conference remarks suggest the company sees a path to sustainable margins through pricing discipline rather than market exit alone.
Beneficiaries enrolled in UnitedHealthcare Medicare Advantage plans should watch for their Annual Notice of Change, which must arrive by September 30, to see how their specific plan is changing for 2027.
