Maryland Releases Its July 2026 Medigap Rate Guide, Giving Traditional Medicare Beneficiaries a Free Premium Comparison Tool

The Maryland Insurance Administration updates its Medicare supplement rate guide every January and July; the current edition lists what each licensed carrier charges for every standardized plan type available in the state and can be used to shop for a lower premium on the same coverage.

The Maryland Insurance Administration published its July 2026 edition of the Medicare Supplement monthly premium guide on July 1, 2026. The guide lists the premium each licensed carrier charges for every standardized Medigap plan sold in the state, from Plan A through Plan N, and is available free on the agency's website with no registration required.

Maryland is among a small number of states that requires carriers to use community rating for Medicare supplement policies. Under community rating, a carrier must charge the same premium for a given plan type regardless of an enrollee's age at the time of purchase or renewal. That makes the Maryland rate guide an unusually clean comparison tool because price differences between carriers reflect business decisions, not age adjustments.

Maryland updated its free Medigap rate comparison guide on July 1. If you are on traditional Medicare, this is a fast way to check whether a lower premium for the same coverage exists.

Medigap plans are standardized nationally, meaning Plan G sold by one carrier in Maryland covers the same benefits as Plan G sold by any other carrier in Maryland. What differs across carriers is the monthly premium. Actuaries and state regulators have noted that utilization among older adults has increased in recent years following a period of deferred care, and some carriers have sought rate adjustments reflecting those trends.
